Save the date of December 4 to hear Treve speak about hiking in Patagonia. The previous REI presentations were so well received that REI invited Treve back for a presentation
in Berkeley. Once again he will share highlights of his week-long adventures, in 1979 and
2007, hiking the “W” route, a portion of the classic circuit around the park’s signature Torres del Paine (Towers of Paine) and Cuernos del Paine (Horns of Paine). Learn how to plan your own Patagonian adventure with Treve’s tips on gear, camping vs. hostelling, and best times to travel. The presentation starts at 7 p.m.
With the holidays approaching you might consider some of the products we’ve added to our on-line store. We now have three tote bags that feature Treve’s photography. We have two medium bags, one with an image of the Marin Circle, another with an image of a market in Bali, and the third, our original bag with an image of poppies. These make great gifts. We also have a selection of notecards and prints.
We recently provided a landscape photo for our good friends at Dragon’s Leaf Vineyard. The images appears on the opening page of the vineyard’s website. The vineyard sits in a lovely location in the Sonoma Mountain appellation in historic Bennett Valley. The property includes 20 acre vineyard, with views of the Sonoma Valley and Mayacamas Mountains.
On the evening of October 17th the San Francisco Bay Area NARI chapter held it’s annual awards banquet. We were well represented with four of our clients submitting seven projects and collecting eight awards. One of the projects, a remodel at Julia Morgan Girls School , won Peter Engel, architect and Woodshanti, cabinet makers, the Grand Award for Overall Excellence as well as first place in it’s category for commercial remodeling. Jeff King took home four Remmies and More Than A Carpenter took home two. We’d like to think that our photos were a big part of making a winning presentations and the judges agree. Not all architectural photography has to be about the structure. Sometimes it’s fun to show how the structure relates to people.
With some of the recent advances in on-line book publishing we’ve discovered that it’s really easy to produce a stunning book of photographic images. In this book we feature images from one residence, identified as the 7th Ave Residence. This is the project that won one our our clients, Jeff King Remmie awards for first place in green design and grand prize for best overall excellence. and was featured on the Green Home Tour recently. You can look at the book at MyPublisher.com.
On September 9 we had our first adventure in selling artwork in a street fair. This event took place on Solano Avenue, sponsored by the Solano Avenue Association. In this picture you see Joann, Treve’s wife, handing one of our promotional post cards to a passer-by.
Martha Anne Kuntz, the art director for TurnerBuilt, has produced a book of TurnerBuilt projects, as a portfolio to show to prospective clients.
